Madecasse is made with Criollo cocoa beans from Madagascar. This cocoa crop contains earths original (heirloom) cocoa variety. The result is a chocolate bar that simply has more flavor. Direct Trade is our way of doing business. Weve integrated ourselves into some of the poorest communities and most challenging work environments in the world, to buy cocoa directly from farmers. Farmers earn more for their cocoa, and you get a better bar of chocolate. Almost 70% of the worlds cocoa comes from Africa, but less than 1% of the worlds chocolate is made there. Our mission is to make chocolate entirely in Madagascar. This reverses some trends that have long held back economic growth in Madagascar, or across Africa for that matter. MAKING CHOCOLATE AT ORIGIN IS NOT EASY. BUT WERE CONVINCED ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO - FOR THE INDUSTRY, FOR COCOA FARMERS, AND FOR THOSE OF US WHO LOVE TO EAT CHOCOLATE.
