Butyric acid is a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) produced by certain probiotic in the gut, which appears to support mucosal integrity.* Butyric acid acts as a primary fuel for the colonic epithelium (colonocytes), and via this means may be considered a support for the integrity of the colonic mucosa.* Butyric acid (butyrate when in salt form) is an important SCFA for this reason.* Since 1979, NutriCology has used only the purest raw materials available, and has implemented strict quality control procedures in every stage of production, including inspection of raw materials, manufacturing, packaging, and storing.
