Textured Vegetable Protein is a rich, nutritious soy product and a great alternative to meat. High in fiber and protein, Textured Vegetable Protein absorbs flavors in recipes and sauces. Try it in vegan chili, sprinkled over soups and salads, or use it to make a plant-based bolognese sauce. Reconstitute by mixing 1 part Textured Vegetable Protein to 1 part hot water or broth. Let soak 5-10 minutes. Refrigerate reconstituted mixture if not used right away. Store in a cool, dry place. We do not recommend refrigeration or freezing of the Textured Vegetable Protein. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, until the crumbles are tender, and drain any remaining liquid using a slotted spoon or a sieve. This method works great when making tacos, sloppy joes, and stir-fries.
• Textured Vegetable Protein can also be added directly to soup, chili, stew, or bolognese sauces without rehydrating. You may need to add more broth or water to these recipes, as Textured Vegetable Protein will absorb liquid as it cooks.
