Description
Za'atar is an aromatic mixture from North Africa which is also found in Turkey and Jordan. It is a part of a Middle Eastern breakfast dish of hot flat bread dipped in olive oil, then sprinkled with the mixture. A blend of sumac, sesame seeds, herbs and salt, the exact composition of Za'atar is often a secret or family heirloom passed down from generation to generation. Just as it can contain many different ingredients, it can be used to season many dishes. INDIA TREE Za'atar can be used on meatballs or vegetables, and as a dip. It can be mixed to a paste with olive oil and spread on bread before baking. Sprinkle it over sauted vegetables or grilled meat.
