Description
The marshmallow plant (Althaea Officinalis) is a flowering plant that can be found in different parts of Europe, Northern Africa, and Western Asia. This plant blooms into beautiful tiny white flowers and its roots have been used as original marshmallow in French cuisine. Sources are documenting that Ancient Greeks, Romans, Syrians, and Egyptians knew about the benefits of the marshmallow root. The preparation of a Marshmallow Root Tea is no different from your regular cup of a typical loose-leaf herbal tea. Grab a tablespoon of dried marshmallow roots and empty it into your favorite mug. Then heat up some water in the kettle and when it reaches its boiling point, pour it over the marshmallow roots. Allow it to steep for up to 10 minutes (remember, longer steep will create more viscosity). Once your tea turns golden, remove the roots with a strainer and enjoy! We suggest that you play around with adjusting the sweetness by adding sugar or honey. Depending on your taste you can also add fewer roots, more water, or cut down the steeping time. Marshmallow Root Tea contains entire groups of compounds that have beneficial properties. Finally, the viscous tea that the roots are producing is considered soothing and beneficial.
