Description
Our Batana Oil comes from Honduras. The oil is extracted from the American Palm Tree (Elaeis Oleifera). The Indigenous people of Miskito produce the oil and are called the Tawira, meaning people with beautiful hair. They have been using this oil for hundreds of years. The scent of the oil is earthy and will catch you off guard at first. I would say that it resembles the smell of coffee. The oil is familiar in texture to coconut oil because it gets slightly solid at room temperature and liquefies in warmer temperatures. The oils composition imparts qualities similar to Olive Oil, as it has high levels of oleic and linoleic acid with lower levels of palmitic acid and other saturated fatty acids.
